Booksfree.com Announces Shipment of 2 Millionth Book
Online book rental giant Booksfree.com ships 2 millionth book, provides over $17 million in savings to members.
Vienna, VA (PRWEB) February 12, 2009 -- Booksfree.com, the largest and oldest online paperback and audiobook rental service, today said it has shipped its two millionth book since the company's subscription service was launched in September 2000. The milestone was reached on February 2nd when the title Skin Deep by Nora Roberts was shipped to a member in Vancouver, WA.
"It took us over 6 years to reach our millionth shipment and only a year and a half to reach our two millionth," said President and CEO Doug Ross. The company has seen a steady increase in growth over the years and was recently named one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. by Inc Magazine. When asked about the impact of the currently economy, Ross replied, "Our growth remains strong because we save people money".
Ross pointed out that the two millionth title is more than just a milestone. The book Skin Deep by Nora Roberts is part of the four-book O'Hurley series originally published in the mid 90's. "You can't just go to the bookstore and pick this title up" said Ross. "This title has been out of print for years". One of the many benefits of Booksfree is their large selection of available and out of print titles. "When you find a good series or author and want to go back and read all their books, you can at Booksfree".
Booksfree also announced over $17 million in savings to its members since the company began its paperback and audiobook rental service. "Members average $2.89 per book and $5.93 per audiobook" said Ross. "That's substantially less then what they would pay at an online retailer or book store."
The savings are just part of the overall value Booksfree offers to its members. "We continue to add value to the service" Ross said. The company has recently launched a members forum, a ship next guarantee for a specific title each month, and has given members the ability to automatically add new releases to their queue. "We feel our overall value proposition can't be beat" said Ross.
