Marie Antoinette, Anne Boleyn, Cleopatra. Throughout history, royal women have had a distressing way of meeting bad, often gruesome, ends. All too often, even the most devious scheming and ruthless selling-out of their sisters hasn't been enough to keep them from the guillotine, the stake, the nunnery, or–in more recent years–the paparazzi. Blending meticulous research with colorful narratives and original art, Doomed Queens charts centuries of royal plotting, backstabbing, and intrigue with wit, style, and more than a taste of the macabre.
Complete with a cautionary moral for each doomed queen, life lessons, sidebars, quizzes, and more, Doomed Queens is a wry tribute to those ill-fated power brokers who paved the way for womankind, one spectacular regal demise at a time. Filled with juicy tales of illicit love, feigned madness, and unthinkable betrayal, here is a book that will appeal to history buffs and fans of The Tudors as well as the millions of readers of royal biographies and historical fiction.
You can find out by reading this book because there is a quiz at the end to determine your margin of safety in the roytal world. I should have a long life but I need to use my power for good I love history but sometimes history y books can be rather dull in the text but Kris Waldberr makes this rather macabre subject entertaaining with a lively, contemporary-sounding text and original observations as well as providing interesting and useful information. It is a great book for anyone who enjoys social or cultural history or women's history. It would be a good choice for mature teens and college students who want to learn about the subject. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
