Rent Driftwood Cottage (Chesapeake Shores)

Summer to me means reading light novels so I naturally turn to romance. Sometimes I find real gems but most are so bland and predictable I lose interest before the last page. DRIFTWOOD COTTAGE was in between...fairly good writing but to me unrealistic and the premise seemed a little silly. One problem is I didnt realize this was the middle book in a long series. With two otehr books coming out at the same time I ***umed it was the first in a series. i felt like I had entered a party and didnt know anyone. Understandable why I was a little confused over the characters and could not warm to them. What really got me was the premise that the guy wouldnt marry the girl because of his fear of commitment but they had a child together. Maybe I am missing something but having a child together is pretty darn commuted where i come from and if you dont want to commit to a person you make darn sure you dont have any accidents by abstaining from the act that could make you a parent. I think it might have been more believable if there had not beena child in the mix. And after the tragedy he finally wants to commit but SHE doesnt! Now come on, that is pretty ridiculous by any stretch of the imagination. This is why I am not a devoted romance reader...author use way too much convention and stereotype or silly ideas that arent even realistic and that sex and having children is OK without marriage. A child is your bond forever but too much media.... including romance novels...makes it OK to simply walk away.
