Synopsis

In an alternate world Festina Ramos is a member of the Explorer Corps, a group of citizens who are all smart and efficient, but who are expendable because they have a physical deformity. The Explorer Corps travel to other planets to contact alien cultures, and they don't usually come back. Now Festina has been sent on what she knows is meant to be her last mission, but she plans to track down other lost members of the Explorer Corps and change her destiny.
