Synopsis

Mark Helprin’s comic fable presupposes a rehabilitated Charles-and-Diana relationship: the nuttily brilliant Prince Freddy and the gorgeously daffy Princess Fredericka. The two are simply not cut out to be members of the illustrious English royal family, but nonetheless they’re sent on a mission to America by a Merlin-like magician who wants to take over the country. Their hapless adventures continue in the New World as the two pose as dentists, discover the delights of unrestrained consumerism, and get involved in right-wing politics.
