The first book in Stephen R. Lawhead's King Raven trilogy reimagines the myth of Robin Hood, conceiving the legendary figure as Bran, the heir to a Welsh king in 1093. When the kingdom is overrun by Normans, Bran takes flight and, with the aid of a colorful band of populists, comes into his own as a leader of his people.
This is probably a very good book, considering that it was written by Lawhead. But, the narration was so awful that I couldn't pay attention to the story. The narrator, Adam Verner was putting inflections in all the wrong places he read the story. I didn't get any sense that he done any preparation, or even had read the book before narrating it. His anunciation was extremely clear, but overly so. It made me think of an over enthusiastic actor from the middle ages. If you can stand that kind of thing, then maybe you'll enjoy this. If you're picky about narration, this may not be for you.
