This book was a slow read for me and I thought I wasn't going to be able to finish but once the story started to pick up I immediately got engrossed in Kate's world. She reminds me of Buffy but alot tougher. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

A great and entertaining read. Leaves you wanting to see more romance with her and the beast master in the next book.

This is the first in a wonderful urban fantasy series. If you like Carrie Vaughn, Kim Harrison, Rachel Caine, and early Laurell K Hamilton, you will love this book and this series.

Lots of descriptions of rotting and ravaged corpses, disembowelment, cannibalism, and other unpleasant things in this book. It's a decent story if you like darker fantasy. The heroine is also rude and confrontational towards very powerful people to the point of stupidity, especially since she's expecting them to help her at the same time.
