She was a child crowned a queen....
A sinner hailed as a saint....
A lover denounced as a whore...
A woman murdered for her dreams...
The writing and style were perfectly fine. But the length of the book was horribly long for such an annoying main character. My biggest peeve with this book was the main character herself. I cant relate to a wishy washy emotional moronic woman like that. Because this is historical fiction, I shouldnt rate based on what actually happened but I cant imagine a more idiotic woman in power. Every once in a while George was able to make me sympathize with Mary but it was short lived. It seems that she never once listened to her advisors and maybe if she had listened every once in a while, she might have been spared most of her pain and suffering.Again, sorry for the negative review. I didnt find myself emotionally invested in either the main characters story or the story of anyone else except maybe Bothwell. And Bothwells part was shortlived and even he made some dumb decisions that I just couldnt get past. Everything changes in hindsight but it just made me dislike almost every character in the book. This book has pretty much ruined Marys reputation in my mind. She never should have ruled.
