Synopsis

Many readers of Bill Clinton's large, one-volume autobiography MY LIFE said that their favorite sections were the early parts of the book, in which Clinton recorded his struggles as a young boy to overcome deficits that could have stood in his way. Many critics commented on the very engaging narration in which Bill, a child of the South, related his origins, telling stories about his home life (including many about his father, who died young--stories Clinton learned only as an adult), and about growing up with a strong mother and a caring stepfather, both of whom were excellent role models. We learn how, early on, he became aware of politics, and of its potential to improve people's lives. MY LIFE: THE EARLY YEARS contains the pre-presidential half of the large one-volume autobiography, and it takes Clinton through his college days, his years as governor of Arkansas, his successful campaign for the presidency, and his first inauguration.
