Synopsis

Someone raped California university professor Rashawn Ams a little more than a year ago. She thinks she knows who it was, but then he is killed. Left pregnant and refusing to report the attack to the police, Rashawn finds herself confused about what she should do next. So she does the only thing she thinks she can do: she hides the rape from her friends and family, and flees town to give birth to her son and repair her life after confiding in one person, her psychiatrist, Allen Roman. Eighteen months later, she returns to the university, only to find herself immediately the target of an intrusive secret admirer, bringing back frightening memories of the attack. Could this person have more than just a crush? What if this is more than a coincidence? Could she have been wrong about the identity of her rapist? What does this mean about the paternity of her son? Chance Davis has had feelings for Rashawn for a long time. He is a drug addict, addicted to a painkiller, a drug created in the West Indies that has made its way onto the campus. Blain Tollome is a campus cop, an obnoxious nuisance of a man whose immature ways label him a troublemaker. His massive size intimidates many who cross his path. Many see him as a bully and brut. However, if they would just look deeper, perhaps they would see the real man inside. That's all he's asking of Rashawn-to see beyond the surface to the man he truly is inside. But is it all really that simple? What do these three men have in common? Lust, greed, and an obsessive appetite for one woman. The problem is one of these men is a killer.
