Author of the Black Jewels series Anne Bishop puts her brand of dark and sexy fantasy on a fresh setting, the world of Ephemera, whose splintered Landscapes respond to the emotions, wishes, and desires of their inhabitants. The protagonist and title character is Sebastian, an incubus looking for a satisfaction beyond that of physical gratification. The son of a succubus and a wizard, Sebastian turns away from his demonic lusts and toward his more human emotions, discovering hitherto unguessed-at strengths and powers within himself as he confronts an ancient evil recently escaped from its prison.

The heroine has the mind and personality of a slow-witted 10 year old, which made it incredibly annoying to read her point of view. Some interesting concepts, but also a lot of really cheesy ones and weird changes in tone from almost fanfic-like camp to graphic violence. The characters were all one-dimensional at best. If you like romantic fantasy, there's much better out there.
