Synopsis

Patty Taylor is a jazz singer with a small band--a job she hopes will lead to better things. But her jealous and possessive husband, just out of prison on a drug charge, has a violent streak, and Patty is afraid he'll find out that she is falling in love with one of the guys in the band. To make things more complicated, she once loved her husband, and still feels grateful that he plucked her out of a dead-end life with an alcoholic mother. And he is the father of her little son, who is the center of her life. Patty's struggles with the men in her life, and with the music that is at the center of it, provide the core of this second novel by the author of THE SONG READER.
