Synopsis

SOLARIS was Lem's first novel to be published in the United States. It is the story of Kris Kelvin, a scientist who journeys to the planet Solaris to study its ocean. And yet he finds himself contemplating his own life, facing repressed memories; he finds that other observers of Solaris also have this experience, and that these memories actually take a physical form. Scientists begin to believe that the ocean of Solaris is a brain that creates these memories, but they do not know why.
