Synopsis

This tale of murder and murderously bad prose picks up a character from Peter Lovesey’s Peter Diamond series, Chief Inspector Henrietta "Hen" Mallin. When a vanity-press publisher is killed in a suspicious fire, the members of an amateur writers’ group are all potential suspects--and potential victims when the deaths continue. Hen takes on the case, impeded by an amateur investigation launched by the surviving members of the writing circle.
