Synopsis

Louis Belk is a bomb disposal specialist for the US during World War II. Stationed in Alaska, he is charged with defusing Japanese balloon germ-bombs. Through inexperience, he makes an error that costs the lives of several of his friends there. Years later, he has become a priest, and as he sits at the deathbed of an Eskimo shaman and looks back on those days, Louis finds that the shaman's stories that he has been listening to as part of his priestly duty have a strange resonance in his own life.
