Synopsis

THE ENGLISH ASSASSIN is an exceptionally readable, sophisticated thriller. Although it stands alone, it would ideally be read after THE KILL ARTIST, published two years ago, which introduces Allon and gives a great deal of his background, including the bombing of his wife and son. These two novels -- and there are three earlier ones I haven't read yet -- make it clear that Silva ranks, with Alan Furst, among the best of the younger American spy novelists.
