An ordinary man is pushed to his very limits to save the woman he loves in this novel from the master of suspense, Dean Koontz. Someone kidnaps Mitchell Rafferty's wife, Holly, and threatens to kill her within the next 72 hours unless Mitch produces a ransom of two million dollars--an amount far beyond the landscaper's ability to pay. Worse still, Mitch can't tell the police about Holly's disappearance, because the kidnapper is not only watching Mitch's every move, but is prepared to take drastic measures to ensure his silence.
You will find yourself identifying with the husband and rooting for him. Very entertaining book.
Fast-paced suspense makes you want to read until you finish and not put the book down.
Very intense page turner. Couldn't put it down.
This was a different ilk for Koontz, but still a great listen.
Why are there so many thrillers out about kidnapped wives and children? Are there a lot of disgruntled husbands and parents out there in need of a little undertheearphones passiveaggression? To me, the kidnap formula is too rigidthe disappearance, the phone call, the delima about bringing in the police, the victim stuck in some horrible placeadd a daring rescue and youve pretty much covered it.I got thru 2/3 of this book and realized I didnt want to know what happened to any of them and quit.
