Synopsis

This mystery is the fourth in a series starring Cliff Janeway, a Denver ex-cop who became an antiquarian book dealer. Janeway’s lover and partner in his bookstore, lawyer Erin D’Angelo, needs his help in a difficult matter in Paradise, Colorado. Years ago, Erin’s best friend Laura and Erin’s first love Bobby had an affair, and subsequently married. That severed Erin’s connection with them both, but now Bobby has been shot, Laura’s confessed to it, and she’s asked Erin to defend her. Erin, with deep misgivings, would like Janeway to investigate the circumstances of the murder, and to assess whether the late man’s reportedly valuable book collection would be able to pay Laura’s legal bills.
