'Drawing from the Upanishads and other classical yoga texts, Yoga Chants, helps listeners to invoke the sacred, find deeper meaning and empowerment in their yoga practice, and reach the ultimate goal of yoga liberation. Through commentary on the literal translation and modern understanding of the chants, and featuring the opportunity to participate in call-and-response chants of several Sanskrit mantras, Yoga Chants presents: why chant completes yoga practice in a way no pose alone can, the science of sacred sound: proven physiological effects of chant, ancient chants from India for overcoming delusion, cultivating peace and prosperity, awakening insight into the happiness of pure Being, and much more.'
The Sanskrit chants were not translated on these CDs, and the pronunciation varied from the speaker's one repetition to the next, so it was not easy to learn. Not one you can listen to once and get much out of. The lack of rhyme and rhythm make them less memorizable. That being said, over about two weeks of daily repetition of the CD, I did learn the words to the first two chants, whatever they mean, and find the chants pleasantly going through my head often. The later chants were just sung once or twice, untranslated, and not worth trying. Now, I guess it's time to learn some more yoga!
