Synopsis

In YOU DON'T LOVE ME YET the ever-eclectic Jonathan Lethem concocts a toothsome literary delight, an oddball tale of ill-conceived lovemaking in the urban world. Lucinda Hoekke is a professional listener at The Complaint Line. Most of the callers are utter bores, but one of them, the Complainer, piques her interest with his philosophical ramblings. Breaking company policy, she meets him in person and falls in love. Lucinda also moonlights as a rock musician in a band populated by lo-fi weirdos, and when the lead singer's writing ideas run dry, they start using the Complainer's rants as lyrics. Soon the band is a hit, but when the Complainer demands to join the band, events go hilariously awry.
