Hillel Italie describes the queen of suspense Mary Higgins Clark perfectly in her article for Denverpost.com entitled, “Mary Higgins Clark Active as Ever at Age 85.” In many readers’ eyes the beloved author is not only an amazing writer, but an amazing woman as well.
Widowed at an early age with five children to take care of on her own, Clark did not buckle under the strain as many young women would have. She pulled it together, squelched her grief, and decided that she would support her children with her writing. Years later she has proven herself and has over 40 bestselling novels to prove it. She is an inspiration to young women and older women everywhere, and proves that you can make it on your own and make your dreams come true.
I still remember reading her book Where are the Children, and becoming a fan for life. Mary Higgins Clark has and always will be one of my favorite suspense authors. No one can tell a story like she does and when I start a new book I make sure I don’t have to get up early the next morning, because I know I won’t be going to bed early!
